Yokai Lantern #printable

As I told you in the previous post, I propose you today to make Yokai lanterns as in the manga Iruma in the school of demons.

At the beginning of the school year, each student must choose a club. To present their activities, the clubs organize a party called Batora. I was inspired by this party to create these lanterns for the birthday decoration.

I thought I would offer this DIY that would also be perfect for Halloween or any Japanese inspired party you feel like doing.

Here are the materials to make these lanterns:

  • paper lanterns (I used 15 cm diameter lanterns that I found here)
  • thick black paper
  • files to download (at the bottom of the article)
  • glue, scissors, cutter

Start by cutting out all the elements. I recommend printing the face elements on printer paper and the horns on heavy paper. You can also use the file as a template and cut out the horns directly from black cardstock.

Cut the strips for the top and bottom parts. Mine are 3 cm wide, but you can vary the thickness depending on the size of your lantern.

Roll up the black strips and glue them together.

Glue the face elements, then the horns and circles.

And here are some nice lanterns you can use on Halloween.

The file is of course for personal use (teachers can use it for their class).

The files are free as always, you can find them at the bottom of the post. If you want to support my work, you can buy me a coffee by clicking on the image below. People who know me know how addicted I am to coffee!

Feel free to share on social media. I love seeing my DIYs in your home. Don’t forget to tag me or add #doitwithmrlapin .

Leave me a comment, it always makes me so happy to read you. 😊
