Christmas in Paris department stores #2023

This year we took a whole day to visit all the department stores in Paris.

This is the first time we’ve done a complete tour of the department stores in one day. Usually, we do a little bit here and there. So I warn you, in case you’re tempted, take good shoes because it’s a very long walk.

To start with, we went to Boulevard Haussmann to see le Printemps and Les Galeries Lafayette.

LE PRINTEMPS

The Printemps display windows were quite pretty. The theme was “Paper Christmas”.

We took the opportunity to see the dome and the terrace, which has a lovely view of the Opéra Garnier.

LES GALERIES LAFAYETTE

I have to admit that we weren’t at all charmed by this year’s theme. It was more creepy than magical. In fact, I realized that I didn’t even take any photos of the tree because I was so disappointed, haha. I’ll post a few photos anyway so you can get an idea.

In the Lafayette Gourmet section, you’ll find Philippe Conticini‘s giant croissants.

We had lunch in the Panasia restaurant on the top floor of Galeries Lafayette. It wasn’t very good and we had the unpleasant feeling that we had to vacate the place very quickly. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. Next time we’ll try restaurants on the second floor of Lafayette Gourmet.

Le Bon Marché

I’m not going to show you the Christmas displays at Le Bon Marché because there were too many reflections to take photos. But you won’t lose anything, because this year the Christmas spirit wasn’t there. The automatons were few and far between, and the staging was rather empty.

However, there’s one space at Le Bon Marché that never disappoints: the Christmas Tree area. You’ll always find great decorations and something a little original. It’s very expensive, of course, but as we only buy one decoration each year, it’s not such a big budget. I’ll show you our purchases in a future post. In the meantime, feast your eyes on these photos.

It had everything you need to make an Italian food-themed tree, haha!

La Samaritaine

Well, here are three photos just to say that we were there, because frankly, the spirit of Christmas and Willy Wonka (that was this year’s theme) wasn’t present at all. The candy chandelier was very impressive, but that’s about it.

Le BHV

This year, the BHV was our favorite. The theme was Christmas in the forest. We liked the decorations and the automatons. It was very sweet.

I hope you enjoyed the walk. Every year I like to show the Christmas decorations in department stores for my readers who can’t necessarily come to Paris.

See you soon and have a wonderful holiday season!
